Het hoogtepunt? Upcycling Food Day op 24 juni. Upcycling Food is een concept dat nog weinig bekend is en dat willen wij graag onder de aandacht brengen.<\/p>\n<p>Voedsel upcyclen?!<\/p>\n<p>Het draait allemaal om het hergebruiken van voedselproducten die we normaal gesproken zouden weggooien, maar die perfect bruikbaar zijn. In een wereld waarin we allemaal bewuster en zuiniger moeten leven, zou het upcyclen van voedsel een oplossing moeten zijn bekend begrip. Maar het vergt veel middelen: onderzoek, ontwikkeling en creativiteit van producenten die niet altijd beloond worden.<\/p>\n<p>Daarom wil de Upcycled Food Association in juni extra aandacht vragen voor Food Upcycling. Het doel: bedrijven stimuleren om inventief met upcycling aan de slag te gaan en consumenten inspireren om upcycled foodmerken te kopen. Dat doen ze slim met de hashtag #ShopUP. De enige manier is UPPA<\/p>\n<p>Gudrun is volop betrokken als het gaat om de mogelijkheden in Food Upcycling. Maak kennis met UPPA: een heerlijke \u201cbite\u201d van geredde cacaovruchten. Een 100% plantaardige traktatie gemaakt van ingredi\u00ebnten die de chocolade-industrie normaal gesproken weggooit. Proef het maar eens, en je zult versteld staan \u200b\u200bhoe creatief je kunt omgaan met wat op het eerste gezicht \u2018verspilling\u2019 lijkt.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDit is een verbazingwekkend getal om over na te denken: het upcyclen van cacaofruit kan dezelfde CO2-uitstoot verminderen als het planten van 3,5 miljard bomen per jaar. Dat is een bosgebied dat groter is dan Duitsland en Frankrijk samen! (Bron: UFA)\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Natuurlijk stoppen we daar niet. Wij werken samen met Peel Pioneers die sinaasappelschillen hergebruiken: het perfecte extract om onze snacks extra smaak te geven. Zelfs onze verpakkingen zijn upcycled: we werken samen met Paperwise die plantenresten gebruiken om verpakkingen te maken in plaats van houtpulp.
